Nonsense

after the gathering something occurred to me that never occurred to me before.

there could conceivably be hundreds of people that make up my family in the future.

this gathering included families brought together through various marriages or divorces and which resulted in a variety of offspring. everyone got along but i haven’t been around a smorgasbord of humans like that since i was a kid and it was at times overwhelming.

dad brought everyone into the kitchen to pray before we sat down to eat. it was a first for me. not the praying but a dad taking the lead to pray over his family and friends. kinda got mixed feelings about it. none good. none bad. just a mix. i have never seen a man or experienced a man lead so have often wondered if it’s a real thing.

we adults played outside like kids while the kids played inside like adults and it was wholesome fun. to top off the evening i ended up going home with a dog. an honest to goodness 4-legged friend.

it was one of the more unexpected things that’s happened to me lately but i’m grateful to have been open enough to say yes.
